Ships are the basic unit of attack in Starfleet Commander. They require a Shipyard for building.

Ship Descriptions

Apollo class.png
Apollo Class Fighter: An upgrade of the Artemis Class that uses a Pulse Drive in place of a Jet Drive allowing for greater firepower and defenses.
Requires: Shipyard.png 3 Pulse drive.png 2 Armor tech.png 2
Charon class.png
Charon Class Transport: The Charon Class Transport is the only ship approved for civilian and droid transport. Each one is capable of ferrying 6 crew members between your worlds.
Requires: Shipyard.png 3 Pulse drive.png 2 Armor tech.png 2
Hercules class.png
Hercules Class Cargo: An upgrade to the Atlas Class with better armor, hull, and cargo capacity. However, it is slower than the upgraded Atlas Class.
Requires: Shipyard.png 4 Jet drive.png 6
Artemis class.png
Artemis Class Fighter: A basic assault unit. It is cheap, light, and dependable, and is the first attack ship that most commanders will build.
Requires: Shipyard.png 1 Jet drive.png 1
Dionysus class.png
Dionysus Class Recycler: The Dionysus Class is used for collecting debris left behind in battle. Send these on a harvest mission and you can collect the resources that float in debris fields around planets after battles.
Requires: Shipyard.png 4 Jet drive.png 6 Shield tech.png 2
Hermes class.png
Hermes Class Probe: Extremely fast probes used to spy on foreign worlds for tactical purposes.
Requires: Shipyard.png 3 Jet drive.png 3 Espionage tech.png 2
Ares class.png
Ares Class Bomber: A specialized ship used to demolish enemy planetary defenses. However, this ship is quite weak in ship versus ship combat, due its lack of Rapid Fire vs ships.
Requires: Shipyard.png 8 Plasma tech.png 5 Pulse drive.png 6
Gaia class.png
Gaia Class Colony Ship: The Gaia Class is used for colonizing new worlds. When sent to an empty planet spot, it will create a new world on which you can develop new mines and buildings, and deploy ships.
Requires: Shipyard.png 4 Pulse drive.png 3
Poseidon class.png
Poseidon Class Cruiser: The Poseidon Class ship features around three times the defensive capability and twice the weaponry as the Apollo Class, in addition to being one of the fastest ships in the universe.
Requires: Shipyard.png 5 Pulse drive.png 4 Particle tech.png 2
Athena class.png
Athena Class Battleship: Many commanders utilize the Athena class as the principal ship for their fleets. Excellent defenses, strong weapons, and fast cruising speed make it a difficult ship to fight against.
Requires: Shipyard.png 7 Warp drive.png 4
Hades class.png
Hades Class Battleship: With high speed, large cargo, heavy hull, and rapid fire versus many ships, the Hades Class is the optimal choice for heavy fleet versus fleet combat.
Requires: Shipyard.png 8 Ftl tech.png 5 Warp drive.png 5 Laser tech.png 12
Prometheus class.png
Prometheus Class Destroyer: This is the largest heavy ship in the universe, exceeded in power only by the moon sized Zeus Class. It packs massive firepower and can be used to smash through enemy defenses.
Requires: Shipyard.png 9 Ftl tech.png 5 Warp drive.png 6
Atlas class.png
Atlas Class Cargo: The basic cargo ship. The Atlas Class is extremely efficient for hauling cargo between planets or from raids. You begin the game with one of these ships.
Requires: Shipyard.png 2 Jet drive.png 2
Solar satellite.png
Helios Class Solar Satellite: The Helios Class is a power-providing ship unit. It is stationary and easily destroyed in a raid.
Requires: Shipyard.png 1
Zeus class.png
Zeus Class: This is the heaviest assault ship. Its massive firepower is unrivaled.
Requires: Shipyard.png 12 Energy tech.png 11 Plasma tech.png 9 Ftl tech.png 9
Warp drive.png 8 Laser tech.png 14 Weapons tech.png 11 Ai tech.png 12
RobotRobot.png
Tech Class Probe: This is the best ship. Its massive firepower is unrivaled.
Requires: Laser tech.png 15 Armor tech.png 50 Weapons tech.png 50 Shield tech.png 50

Ship Engine Types

There are three types of engines currently in use in the Starfleet Universe, the Jet Drive Engine, the Pulse Drive Engine, and the Warp Drive Engine.

The Jet Drive Engine

The ancient Jet Drive Engine ignites a combustible gas and use the resulting thrust to move ships. While new advances have continually increased their efficiency, they are, on the whole, a relatively slow method of transportation. Still they are cheap and effective for units that don't require the advanced speed afforded by Pulse and Warp drives.

Ships using the Jet Drive Engine Type:

The Pulse Drive Engine

The Pulse Drive Engine is an evolution of the Jet Drive Engine. Instead of igniting a stream of gas, it uses a series of nuclear explosions (pulses) to generate considerable thrust. This engine type is used on larger and faster ships instead of the Jet Drive Engines.

Ships using the Pulse Drive Engine:

The Warp Drive Engine

The Warp Drive Engine is the pinnacle of transportation technology. It uses magnetism to reshape the space-time continuum around it, allowing ships to move at faster-than-light speeds.
