Tables

These tables need some vertical lines. The columns, especially on that last rapid fire table, are much too difficult to follow. --70.239.16.38 18:25, 18 January 2010 (UTC) When buying ships,,why can we not cancel this as we can on research?

You can't cancel ships as this would allow you to resource save too easily. For example if your under attack you put all your ore and crystal into missile turrets and probes and only need cargo ships for the hydrogen. After the attack your cargos would come back, and you would cancel the shipyard queue. Hope this makes sense. --LunarAvenger 16:54, 1 November 2010 (UTC)

Picture Links

clicking on the pictures on this page should take one to the ship entry, not to the full image picture.
That's remarkably counter-intuitive, annoying, and, in the end, pointless.
If someone wants to look at a full-sized picture of the ship, it should be by clicking a link on the ship entry page, not on an intro page like this.

I agreed with OBloodyHell and have resolved this issue, each picture now leads to the ship page and not a larger picture.

Ship Organizing and Universes

After adding the Carmanor to the top section, I noticed that overall, the ship info isn't consistent throughout the page. Three thoughts occurred to me, and I wanted to see what anyone thought:

1) Break all the ship listings down further, as it is in the bottom, with one additional split to separate satelites from the other ships.

2) Add info to the verbose section listing what universes any given ship is available in (with ALL being the default). Also, add a column to the table display to show the same info.

3) In all listings, display the ships in the same order...and choose either alphabetical or the same order as displayed in the Shipyard in the game.

Working on making it alphabetical. --Gary Mintz 00:31, 27 December 2012 (UTC)

I think the ships should be in the same order as in game. ---- Microfix Merlin 23:38, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
I put them in alphabetical and game order here which is preferred? My Sandbox --Gary Mintz 06:27, 29 December 2012 (UTC)

And now with Hired Guns, we have a whole new categorization due to race. My feeling is that we should ignore that, and basically categorize them more by size, similar to the way they are. But I disagree with some of the current categorization (here or in Template:Ship List).

Here's how I see the ships, apart from utility ships:

  • Small
    • Artemis, Apollo, Empusa, Mantus, Magnon, Vortex, Erebus: I think everybody would agree that these are Fighters, it says so in their name. What may surprise people is how effective they are (especially Artemis) against Large ships.
  • Medium
    • Curetes: to my mind, this is more of durable fodder (functions like a fighter), but it says "cruiser", which BFG is using for medium ships, so Cruiser is fine.
    • Poseidon, Typhon, Cirrus: also Cruisers.
    • Moros, Pallas: these are also medium-sized ships that like the others are generally most effective against the lightest fodder
  • Large — the classic "big four"
    • Athena, Hades: these are the fast ships and tend to be most effective against medium-sized ships
    • Ares, Prometheus: slower, heavy ships
  • Super
    • Thanatos, Zeus: Thanatos is so similar to Zeus (though roughly one-fifth sized) I don't see how they can be separated.
