Usage

To transport workers, go to the fleet screen, add a Charon Class Transport to your fleet, and you will notice a "Transport Workers" link will appear. Clicking the link will open a window displaying all of the workers available for transport, and whether they are currently assigned or not. Select your workers, select your destination, and your mode of mission (deploy or transport), and dispatch the fleet. The ship is likely named after Charon of Greek mythology who ferries the souls of the dead across the river Styx to Hades. The name Charon also is the name of one of the three moons of Pluto.

Evaluation

ADVANTAGES

Charon Class Transport ships are the only way to shuttle workers to/from planets. Each allows you to shuttle up to 6 workers at a time. To build a level 4 Factory from scratch costs 6000 Ore, 1800 crystal, and 3000 Hydrogen. This makes the Charon Class the most economical way of putting droids on your colonies, with the added bonus of not taking up 4 field slots on another colony.

DISADVANTAGES

The Charon Class costs more than an Atlas Class Cargo and has little to no utility outside of moving workers around. Due to the low cargo space the ships cannot hold enough fuel for long inter-galactic trips at maximum speed. This can be alleviated by accompanying it with an Atlas Class or Hercules Class to act as a extended range fuel tank for the Charon Class.

SPECIAL NOTE

Workers cannot be transported to or from a Moon. This makes it impossible to use the 'moon-to-moon' strategy sometimes used to do long deployments while remaining invisible to Oracles.
