The Apollo is good for beginner fleets but becomes useless as you progress through the game. Their only perk is they rapidfire Atlases. When compared to other combat ships (such as [[Poseidon]]) they are just too expensive and ineffective. Their look has also managed to catch the eye of many scifi enthusiasts, and as such, have still mass-produced these fighters as a fictional background, regardless of the lack of advantages.
