How do I get more fleets?
Research AI Tech to gain more fleet slots, or rent the Admiral.
Why do I keep getting attacked?

Is the Gaia consumed each time you create a colony?
Yes, see Gaia Class for more info.
How can I run more missions/attacks at the same time?
You can run a number of missions or attacks equal to max fleets. See above for how to get more fleets.

Buddies and recruits are 2 different things, anyone you recruit shows up as crew and workers on your home-world, buddies are people you have friend-ed in game. You can do group attacks or group defense with anyone who is a buddy.
