Evaluation

Advantages

  • The Dionysus Class ship is used to harvest the Debris Fields that form in the vicinity of a planet after one or more ships have been destroyed.

Disadvantages

  • It is very slow and useless in combat.

Notes

  • The Dionysus' harvesting capacity is limited to its own internal cargo space. This cannot be augmented by adding cargo vessels to the harvesting fleet. If you want to harvest more debris, you need to send more Dionysus ships.
  • A Dionysus cannot salvage the debris created by a battle in which the Dionysus takes part. If you are expecting your battle fleet to create some debris you want to harvest, then you must follow up with a second fleet of Dionysus to harvest the debris field created by the first fleet.
  • When harvesting a debris field around a planet, the harvesting fleet will not engage any defending fleets in battle, regardless of the size of the defending fleet or the presence of defenses on the planet. A fleet with a Dionysus on a harvest mission cannot be attacked in any way, nor can it be detected, as the target planet is not notified that a harvesting fleet is on its way.
  • A Dionysus can be sent on a Harvest mission to a planet whether debris exists or not. To send a Dionysus to recycle at a planet that does not (yet) have a debris field, select one on the fleet screen, select "Harvest", and input the coordinates of the planet in question.
  • [Note: Unverified] It would seem that once a fleet including Dionysus recyclers arrives at the target coordinates to harvest a debris field a period of time is spent harvesting the debris. With other missions, the time shown is time to get there, so it will take the same time to return, so a 2 hour mission will have a further 2 hour return journey, totalling 4 hours. When harvesting debris a length of time is spent "harvesting" so a mission shown as 2 hours (expected to take 4 hours) seems to take more as some time is spent "harvesting". Further info would be nice to help calculate the time taken "harvesting" relating to quantity of debris and number of Dionysus' doing the harvesting.
