what are they anyway? all i know is they belong on moons. anyone with more info?

Can warp gates be used to cross galaxies? For example, if I have a jump gate at [4:133:2] and a jump gates at [3:289:9] can I link them? Why are there no pictures of the warp gate? I always imagined it as the ones in Babylon 5.
- I could find us one, but I'm not sure it wouldn't be copyrighted... and yeah, I was thinking that too.
