Mines are your basic resource production units in Starfleet Commander. You start off by building them, and then they pay you a certain amount of resources per hour. You can increase production by increasing their level and by assigning workers to them.

Note: Even without mines, each planet produces 20 ore and 10 crystal each hour. No hydrogen is produced until you build a Hydrogen Synthesizer.

Ore Mine

The Ore Mine produces ore, the most plentiful resource. Ore is an essential resource for the construction of ships, defenses, buildings, and most technologies. You can assign workers (human or droid) to an Ore Mine to increase its resource production. For more information, including detailed costs, energy use, and production, see the Ore Mine page.

Crystal Mine

The Crystal Mine produces crystal. Most ships, defenses, buildings, and technologies require crystal. You can assign workers (human or droid) to a Crystal Mine to increase its resource production. For more information, including detailed costs, energy use, and production, see the Crystal Mine page.

Hydrogen Synthesizer

The Hydrogen Synthesizer produces Hydrogen, the rarest and most valuable resource. Hydrogen is used in many advanced ships, defenses, buildings, and technologies. Hydrogen is also consumed as fuel when moving ships. You can assign workers (human or droid) to a Hydrogen Synthesizer to increase its resource production. For more information, including detailed costs, energy use, and production, see the Hydrogen Synthesizer page.

Energy

Energy is the source of power for mines. Unlike ore, crystal, or hydrogen, energy is persistent and cannot be stored and spent at a later time. Energy will become "insufficient" if the mines or synthesizer on a planet are upgraded beyond the energy production capabilities of that planet. Because mines require energy to run, insufficient energy will cause resource production to be less than full capacity. Energy is provided by the Solar Array, Nuclear Power Plant, and Helios Class Solar Satellite.

Note: While the Helios Class Solar Satellite is often the most cost effective method of increasing energy output on a planet, it should be done with caution. The Helios Class Solar Satellite is a ship, and it is capable of being destroyed during an attack. If a Helios Class Solar Satellite is destroyed, it will no longer produce energy.
