'' * I revised the lettering a bit... not by quite as much, as I was concerned that really thin lines don't tend to show up very well in this color scheme. Heraldically, you're mixing "gold" lettering with a "silver" background but you're not supposed to put like colors together. (In ancient heraldry there are two groups of colors - metals (gold, silver, white, yellow) and hues (black, blue, green, red, brown, purple)... you're not supposed to put two hues or two metals touching each other if it can be avoided, and when you do, you often have contrast problems.) Will go a bit further if you want, but I wanted you to look at this version. [[User:Silver Gate Squadron|Silver Gate Squadron]] 15:31, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

*Looks good. The left side of the A where it meets the U dangles, I'd prefer that to be a straight and smooth vertical part. Also, shift the A over so it's more centered and the U and C are the same width. I've never heard of the heraldry color scheme being in affect like that. Shows how much of a graphical newb I am, eh? Thanks for the quick answer to my colonization question. I haven't been playing for all that long, and while I've been using the Wiki extensively as a resource, that was my first actual change, modest as it was. I have since taken a few more baby steps, and I would appreciate any guidance or comments that you might have, as well as an answer to a follow-up editing-related question or two. Since I posted the original query re: colonization under Diplomacy Mode, I have read the editing help page, and made the following changes: first, I added a name and date stamp to my question, second, I added the new information about the colonization legality to the Diplomacy Mode page itself, and lastly I inserted a missing comma in the following paragraph on the same page. I admit that Ididn't get everything right on my initial attempt, as I neglected to fill in the summary field, for example, but at this point I think that the changes are all up to snuff. Would it be possible for you to check my work, so to speak, and reassure this novice editor that he did in fact do OK? Also, now that the main page contains the information I asked about, should I delete my question on the discussion page? Or would striking it out be the correct step? Many thanks for your time spent on my issues, and many more for the efforts you have made throughout the Wiki. (Now that I "know" you, it seems like I see your name everywhere!) Hmm, it appears I have one last question: should this entry on your Talk page have been flagged as a Minor Edit? Thanks again. [[User:JazeVangal|JazeVangal]] 21:34, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

Revision as of 21:34, 16 July 2010

Hello there. Im wondering if you interested in possibly becoming an admin and helping out. Were really short staffed. If you interested just write on my talk page. --Phil Sutherland 10:57, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

Admin

I checked your contributions, everything checks out OK. Just waiting for confirmation from Matt before I grant you that power. --Phil Sutherland 19:08, 1 June 2010 (UTC) Got the Ok from Matt, and you now an admin. A Bunch of new powers you now have. A couple of things I want you to do when checking for vandalism. Use the Recent changes button if you don't already and mark pages as patrolled when you check them. --Phil Sutherland 19:06, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

Welcome to the admirality! Jesus Saves 01:26, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

Thank you! Thank you! (for the welcomes, not the powers. LOL.) Two question... I'm suddenly seeing red exclamation marks all over the "Recent Changes" page... what's that about? And is there anything specific you guys would like worked on (other than watching for vandals)?

The red ! marks are pages that have not been patrolled by admins. When I click on one of the pages it will give me an option to patrol it. If I do then the mark will go away. For now just watch for vandalism and if you can, post the welcome template on new users talk pages. {{Welcome|Your Name}} Im also trying to get a bot going by the name of Philyboy so watch put for it. --Phil Sutherland 10:54, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

How goes editing? --Phil Sutherland 19:14, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

- good. Mostly just been watching the Mechanics pages for bad information/vandalism. Like the work I did on Crew Droids.

hey i need admin status il help out he he

  • Speaking only for myself, but... you need to register and prove your worth first. Silver Gate Squadron 22:34, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

i helped out latley alot User:Runescape

  • Also, being the newest admin, I don't have that kind of pull. But at this point, I'd probably speak against you - not because you might not be helpful, but because we just don't know. Silver Gate Squadron 22:37, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

What happened? I logged on to see a new message which turns out to be some guy I have never heard of before asking for admin status. Then I go to the recent changes and see you are reverting a number of edits from the same IP address. Im guessing it was the same guy. --Phil Sutherland 19:57, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

  • It looked like someone was trying to take over / destroy the Wiki. One of the pages he edited, he wrote "U can't catch e before I destroy the wiki"... so I reverted all his edits and blocked him. Hoping it was the right thing. Silver Gate Squadron 23:01, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

No you did the right thing. I want to congratulate on your actions. --Phil Sutherland 20:30, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

  • Have been kinda wondering since this... I know it's possible as I contribute at another Wiki where it was done... do you think we should make ALL pages able to be edited by registered users only? It might cut down on the vandalism... Silver Gate Squadron 00:01, 8 June 2010 (UTC)

= The policy is to protect all pages after they have been vandalized once. -Phil Sutherland 21:05, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

  • Understood. Just wondering if a change of policy might be desirable. Just a random idea. Silver Gate Squadron 00:06, 8 June 2010 (UTC)

= Il think about it but il have to ask Blue Frog Gamming. -Phil Sutherland 21:05, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

Getting your first test as admin, I see. :) Jesus Saves 00:28, 8 June 2010 (UTC)

Hows it going? --Phil Sutherland 19:26, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

Doing okay. Any particulars you want?

Please check this reqularly. --Phil Sutherland 13:26, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

Can you help me updating the chats on the ships? --Phil Sutherland 14:58, 23 June 2010 (UTC)

RFA

I want all the admins to vote yes or know (Read the page before voting on the talk page). Hope fully we will be having more people apply soon. Read this page and then vote on the talk page. Starfleet Commander talk:Requests to become a Administrator\Bureaucrat --Phil Sutherland 20:55, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

  • The user will not be getting admin status back. He abused it and now is creating more lies to cover up the original ones. --Phil Sutherland 11:29, 10 July 2010 (UTC)

File:Uac-demo.jpg This is a very rough draft of what I've had floating in my head for a while. In the middle of the two circles are the letters "UAC". The specifics:

  • The letters are shaped as rectangles with rounded corners. The letters are an unbroken continuation of one line with several bends. The right side of the U flows directly up to form the left side of the A, and the right side of the A flows downward to create the backbone of the C.
  • The inner circle is a gray color as shown, while the outer ring has either the gray color as shown for it, or even better, is brown.
  • The letters and the borders of the two circles are gold.
  • The outer ring has a consistent width, and doesn't bulge on the sides like my poor drawing here does. Its width is equal to that of the top of the ring shown here.
  • Bonus stuff, if you're interested:
    • Give it a slight 3D feel, where the letters stick out a few pixels and are rounded. The whole image is ever so slightly angled to the left.
    • Lighting effects: a cresent-shaped reflection/glare of light that goes from the top to the bottom, with the bend reaching its furthest about where the U and the A connect.
    • A little reflection/glare on the gold borders, as well.

Honestly, I'll take whatever you can make. And I'll be sure to credit you for it as well. Thanks!

* Here's the first draft of what I genned up while I was waiting to hear what you wanted. Be happy to work on it (or from scratch), make something a bit closer to what you were talking about... BTW the Latin is the translation of "Join or Die", which is also the motto of the new MLS team in Philadelphia.

  • I'll add it to the list of options, but I'll hold off until you get the one I suggested done up. Jesus Saves 03:39, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

* Here's the draft of what I think you're talking about... Silver Gate Squadron 05:21, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

  • That's pretty good, thin the letters to, say, a quarter of that width.

Colonization in Dip-Mode questioner says thanks, has questions
