Talk:Group Defend

Are there rules as to who you can defend?

It is pretty explicit: "You can send forces to help your allies and buddies defend their world. On the Galaxy page look for the chain link icon on the right side of the screen under the Actions Column." i.e. anyone in your alliance, and your buddies. If they have a chain link icon, you can group defend with them. --Rob 15:14, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

I don't see this icon on all my buddies. Do I only see it on those who are under attack?

Same question! I see some of my buddies but not all, why and how do I fix it?

Same Question... I have an alliance member, who is a buddy, 3 planets down. No Defend link. Yet another alliance/buddy does have a defend link. Does it matter about what the level difference is? He has a small (n) next to his name. It appears that in order for us to be able to defend or attack as a group. We need to be at about the same skill level. Is this a floor/bug??

- You must be able to otherwise engage with the player (attack, probe, etc.), based upon newbie and diplomacy mode rules, in order to defend them. In this case, as covered in the section I bolded, you're being limited by the player's status relative to your own. - Silver Gate Squadron 23:54, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

Activity Timer

Why does a probe show an * when it probes a planet, but when a fleet arrives there is no indication?

- This issue is not properly addressed on this page. Silver Gate Squadron 23:54, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

Diplomacy Mode

Going into diplo mode and the attack button (shield) is there, just grayed out, which it should be. This is expected, but the chain (defend) isn't. Any ideas? I sent a message to Blue Frog Gaming via the Support link and awaiting a response. I already checked to make sure I had a ship, one fleet spot open and the person was a buddy.

- You must be able to otherwise engage with the player (attack, probe, etc.), based upon newbie and diplomacy mode rules, in order to defend them. You cannot engage in a Group Defend while in, or entering, Diplomacy mode. - Silver Gate Squadron 23:54, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

Newbie Protection

Why some buddies have a Group Defend link and others don't: My brother is a newbie to the game... or was. I have been playing the game for a while (Starfleet Commander). He has been my buddy since the beginning, but only in the last day have I been able to probe his planets or group defend him. It was because he was ranked too low. As soon as he advanced in rank enough to come within my level of engagement, I was then able to group defend him.

Ranking determines whether or not you can group defend a buddy. --74.34.145.61 13:43, 11 October 2010 (UTC)

- To be intricately clear, it's not exactly the ranking, but rather the Resources Spent points, which determine "newbie protection". But you are correct in that you must be able to attack and probe the player in order to be able to defend them. Silver Gate Squadron 23:54, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
