Motto:

We are the Neoterran Alliance (NTA). Our motto is, "We kill with a smile." In that endeavor, it is our hope that your relations with us stay pleasant and entertaining regardless of the exercise of in-game rules and regulations for fair and impartial game play between players. We hope all of our interactions are respectful when respected and that you have as much fun playing this game as we do.

About Us:

Originally formed by Ptonjalken, NEOTERRAN is currently one of the oldest and most venerated alliances within Starfleet Commander. NEOTERRAN is a modestly-sized, motley group of players bound together by a transcendent sense of community with one another, yet highly individualistic. Their elite members hail from a variety of tactical gaming styles, entertaining different strategies with an open mind for improved game play. The NEOTERRAN membership has a delicate but successful balance between veteran and fresh blood. Their successes can be seen through their dominance in multiple areas of the Leaders board along with a high alliance average despite having a disproportional number of its members below the alliance mean. While not a designated training alliance, the simple exposure to the veteran gaming outlook within NTA rapidly aligns new members to exhibit dominant traits. While we will accept and review all applications submitted, our current focus is on finding the exceptional player to join our ranks. There are many worthwhile alliances out there and we believe that alliances should be a good fit for the individual joining it.

In May of 2013 NTA Ranked #5 and HOD Ranked #10 in a joint effort to provide a better environment for the alliance members, opened discussion of a merger between both great alliance. Then in June after much discussion and input from members the two alliances merged creating the #? ranked alliance in SFC

Recruitment:

The Officer core of NEOTERRAN takes caution when accepting new members. While skill and verifiable progress is definitely a factor, those who thrive within the NTA environment absorb core NTA values and are active in its community.

Requests to join can be submitted to NTA

Please include at least one of your colony locations in the memo box of your request to join.

Moral Compass:

As quoted from previous NTA Leader Psiosa: "I personally believe that our values need to be intrinsic and perpetual in practice. Because we acknowledge players are real people too in the real world, it is never our intent to exhibit great cruelty, cause psychology harm or distress over a game. We believe it should be fun for everybody." That said, our actions are dictated by the rules of engagement as established by Blue Frog Gaming. In-game realities are defined by the Creator and we are merely participants.

Please note that in our endeavor to have fun, we do focus on maximizing the number of targets that are available to our members. All of our officers have signed on for public duty to serve the interests of NTA and its members. Our Leader is here to serve her officers and facilitate in their duties to our members.

Tools of the Trade

We recommend that our members use the following scripts and tools to enhance their SFC playing experience:

  1. The Eljer scripts, for Chrome and Firefox browsers, offer several enhancements to the basic SFC user interface, report reformatting, etc;
  2. The Open Parser galaxy page parser collects game information whenever a player who has installed the tool navigates to a different solar system using the SFC Galaxy page. The parser then sends the information to a server-based database, where it is stored with information that is collected as other game players navigate from one solar system to another. This collective information then can be accessed and queried to better understand opponents' dispositions, Heph locations and historical tracks, and the location of NPCs.
  3. The BattleCalc and BattleMentat combat simulators enable you to model a battle before it occurs, thereby enabling you to determine what ships to apply to the battle or whether to run from the fight! BattleMentat is the newer tool of the two and is under more active development.

The Greasemonkey scripting engine must be installed into Firefox before any of the above scripts and galaxy parsers tools can be installed into that browser.

Sharing Spoils from Multi-Player Engagements

NTA's position is that each participant in a multi-player engagement is a valuable contributor and should share equally in the spoils of war, irrespective of the amount of resources they committed to the engagement. The spoils to be shared are those which remain after each player's expenses (hydro burned as fuel, cost of IPBMs, and cost of destroyed ships) have been covered, to the degree that is feasible, using the acquired resources. The cost of defenses destroyed during a Group Defend are not to be subtracted from the spoils of the GD prior to calculating player shares.

This position applies to players involved in a Group Attack, Group Defend, or debris field pickup. It also applies in the case where a player identifies a target, then asks a particular Alliance member to "provide all the muscle" to take out the target. In this latter case, the identifying player and the active player share equally in the spoils of war. This position does not apply if a player posts an identified target to the Alliance's message board. Any reader of the board is free to take on such targets and has no expected obligation to share in the fruits of war with the poster.

This is the Alliance's default policy. It isn't mandatory. Players are free to negotiate alternative arrangements before performing a multi-player engagement or collaborative operation, such as farming of an inactive. If no such alternative understanding is agreed to before the engagement, it is expected that the involved players will abide by the default policy.
