Taking Over Planets

i attacked a planet where it was a simple win. according to the battle report they had no defenses or ships. why cant i take over this planet?

This is because you cannot take a planet over. All you can do is hammer on it and hope the person abandons the outpost.

Attacking

What gets hit first or how does the decoy work? If the attack all happens at the same time, what effectiveness is the decoy? Does the decoy take all hits or only random hits depending on the amount of targets?

all ships get a chance to fire in the round. What enemy a ship fires at is random. Thus the larger the number of defenses you have the less likely the decoy is to get hit. check out combat for more details.
