We choose not to play as part of a formal alliance. We seek an optimal gaming experience and do not believe that this is available as part of a team. Group combat comes down to who has the biggest gang. We raid because it comes down to timing and allocation of resources, which is an interesting challenge.

We have our own standards. As the alliance lead, mine include: I don't bash. I try not to use missles. (They reduce the abilities of players to continue playing. I keep a bunch for defense and retaliation only.) I raid to get resources, because that is the game. I try not to raid any one person more than once a week. If I leave a planet uncovered for an inordinate length of time, with enough resources to make raiding worthwhile, I expect to be raided. If someone makes a good play, I congratulate them.

We do have buddies, for trading and conversation. But we try not to call on them for help. If a bunch of folks are ganging up, we might help, not because of an alliance, but because we think the cause is just. If you want to declare yourself an independant, feel free to join the IWA. I enjoy the company. But don't expect help if someone attacks because you were flaming them!

We think all of these things add to a more pleasant and challenging game for all concerned. If you disagree with us, let us know. If you have an argument that we feel to be pertinent and cognizant, we will consider it and we may have an interesting discussion, and we might even change our ways. 'Till then, though, we will be raiding.
