If I build a foundry and later remove levels of Capital, will it have adverse side effects, like not being able to build anything, or is it impossible to remove levels of capital after you have a foundry? - Monsieur Spock
Wow, expensive! But I suppose the benefit is worth the cost. -Admiral Cain, 04:47, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, it is. As an example, with an L2 Foundry and an L12 Shipyard, it takes just under 30 mins to make a Hades, down from something like 2.5 hrs when you initially get the ability to build 'em. And it only seems expensive to early users, they really aren't that expensive, esp. in Uni2, with its enhanced mining curve.
For example -- in Uni2, an L22 Ore mine with bots produces about 13.5k/hr, meaning it takes around 75 mine-hours to produce the 1m ore for an L1 Foundry -- that's barely three days worth of Ore mining output. An L20 Crystal mine produces the requisite 500k in about 80 hours., and an L18 HSynth makes about 2.5k/h, or about 40 hrs to produce the needed hydro.... if you have 6-8 colonies at that point (and you should) then it's probably less than a day's personal production to build an L1 Foundry. In Uni1, you're more likely to raid for it than make it, but that's little more than one really good raid's take, or a couple days' take from farming inactives.

It would be nice if there was something similar for research ! - Anabot,

Does the Foundry apply to all worlds and colonies in your empire or only the one on which it is built?
- I'd like to know that as well?
- looks like same as Capitol - just the World on which built - just 1,2 Mio Ore and i'll will tell you sure ;)
- Did you get your 1.2 Mil Ore and find out if it is just the world on which it is built? Thanks
- The bonus from the Foundry applies only to the planet it is built on :/

- This is indeed the case -- you can/must build one on each world you intend to use for major development

Building a foundry.
The WIKI page says that I can't build a Foundry if I'm currently building ships, defences, or droids. Is the reverse also true? That for 70+ hours after starting the Foundry I won't be able to build a ship, defence, or droid an any of the worlds in my empire?
A: Yes, the reverse is true. -- jessejericho 15:43, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
- Not precisely -- only on that single world will production be halted

but should it really be taking 70+ hours to build with a lvl 10 capitol and the appropiriate bots/workers? 51 hours 16 minuets and 21 seconds using just the lvl 10 capitol filled with build bots. Human workers would have further reduced those times --Jermoe 23:22, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
- The same is also true for upgrading the Foundry. This is one reason I somewhat recommend building at least two Foundries before upgrading any of them, so your production won't be entirely shut down. Two L1s is probably better and more useful, for most purposes, than one L2 anyway, and costs less. After that I'd say up one to L3 before upping more than that to L2, but YMMV...

Foundry on the Moon
The WIKI says this cannot be done. Has anyone tried? I can't imagine many people build the lunar bases needed for Capitol 10 due to the cost. If nobody has tried this I'll try it myself and report the results here. 205.185.226.59 23:33, 13 November 2010 (UTC) Dread Pirate Ragnar, Uni 2
- I have a moon with lvl 10 Capital, you do not have the option to build a foundry. I built up to lvl 10 to see if it is quicker to build upgrades, still working this out as only just got my 2nd moon.
