Colonize

Colonize is a special type of mission, like transport or deploy, in which one sends a Gaia Class Colony Ship to an uninhabited planet in the Galaxy View. When the ship arrives, if nobody else has already colonized the spot first, it is immediately destroyed and the commander receives a colony. Any resources sent with the colonization mission are deposited on that planet and can be used to build up the new world.

Colonies place on planets 1, 2 and 3 in a solar system are unlikely to have a suitable number of available fields (often 60 or less). Planets 4, 5 and 6 will provide the largest number of available fields. Ref: Thread on abandoning a colony
