A Solar System is where planets are created and colonized in Starfleet Commander. There are 499 individual Solar Systems in each Galaxy. Up to 15 planets can be created in each Solar System.
When a homeworld is created, it will always have 163 Planetary Fields.
When a planet is created from a Gaia Class colony ship; however, it will have a random amount of Planetary Fields based upon which spot in the Solar System in which it was created. HINT: Planets 4, 5, and 6 tend to yield higher number of slots (i.e. Planetary Fields); while planets 1, 2, and 3 tend to yield the fewest number in any given solar system.
