A deploy mission is used to station a ship to a different planet which you already own. Deployed ships can carry resources the same way as ships in a transport mission, but unlike ships in a transport mission they do not automatically return to their homeworld after they arrive at the new planet. Instead they stay there until issued further orders. If resources are deployed along with the ships, they will be deposited at the destination planet.
To deploy crew and or workers, you must first assign a Charon Class Transport to a deploy mission, assign the crew and or workers to the Charon Class Transport, then deploy the ship to your desired planet. Upon arrival, the passengers are deposited at the planet and the Charon Class Transport remains in orbit.
Due to the ability to recall a deploy mission, the same amount of hydrogen is needed as for a transport mission, providing fuel for a possible return trip. This extra hydrogen is not refunded even if the deploy mission is not recalled. (It is polluted due to being placed in a fuel tank. For further info see fuel contamination [ )
