[[Klingon|Klingons]] who follow the Way of the Warrior, the belief system developed by Kahless the Unforgettable, value honor above all else. Warriors who die an honorable death are said to join Kahless, the first Klingon Emperor, in the Black Fleet in '''Sto-Vo-Kor''', a paradise where battle and feasting can eternally be shared and won. They can even command a Black Fleet Ship in which they endlessly wage glorious combat, against worthy foes who have also entered the ranks of the dead.

'''Phoenix Risen''', or '''HOD''', established August 25, 2011, has risen quickly to become a force to be reckoned with in the SFC Original universe.  As of October 20, 2012 we are the #17 ranked alliance, based on overall points.  We rank #15 in average points per alliance member.
+
== About the Alliance ==

+
Sto-Vo-Kor [SVK] is an alliance created by former members of the Klingon Black Fleet that were unhappy with the May 2010 scandal involving unapologetic cheating by several members in leadership positions of KBF. In an attempt to play the game fairly and with honor, Sto-Vo-Kor was created as the new home of the Black Fleet.
We believe, foremost, that our members and our opponents are to be respected as people and as SFC players.  As is seen in the following Alliance rules, we expect our members to be civil to each other and to opponents.  In return, we expect our opponents to be aggressive but civil toward us.  Being human and humane toward each other is a dictum of the basic rules of (real) war.  Applied to SFC, this helps retain players and ultimately increases game enjoyment for all of us.

We are fiercely protective of our Alliance members when they are attacked or messaged in a spiteful manner.  Opponents who do so can expect to find themselves beset by the full resources of our Alliance.

'''HOD''' recruits players of all ranks and playing styles.  We have our warlords with large fleets, and we have our master builders. We attract mature players who are serious about their game play.  When given the opportunity to work under the tutelage of our senior members, even the newest players can move up quickly in game rank, develop substantial civilizations, and make valuable contributions to the Alliance and to the overall SFC playing community.

==Origins==

Most of the '''HOD''' officers and several other players began the new alliance to provide the opportunity to play with people who valued multiple styles of play and who were sold on the importance of respect among players.  Subsequent members have been attracted to '''HOD''' because of these core Alliance values.

==Leadership==

<p>Leader: '''Douglas Simmons'''</p>

<p>First Officer: '''Death Viper J'''</p>

<p>Battle Commander: '''Sun Killer'''.  Wars:  Research requests, find suitable targets, organize MAC opportunities.  Heph wing: Tactics, CNC of the Heph wing once launched</p>

==Alliance Rules==

Each member agrees to abide by the following rules:

#No attacking fellow alliance members unless they are inactive. This includes probing.

#Do not use the alliance as a threat towards others.

#Be polite to not only fellow alliance members, but the community as a whole. Foul language and insubordination will not be tolerated.

#No begging. It is OK to ask for help. That is how you learn. There are a lot of people here willing to dole out advice.

#Learn to Fleet and resource save. If you are not in dip mode, this is just a way of life if you want to survive .

#No bullying. This is where you attack the same active target day in and day out the max number of times, in an attempt to drive them away from the game.

#More of a suggestion than a rule, but get out there on the forums and meet a few people. The people here are better than this game ever will be on it's own.

==Alliance-Specific Ranks==

'''HOD''' members have Alliance-specific ranks that are based on overall SFC ranks:

1-999: Reincarnated Phoenix<br>

1000-2499: Candescent Phoenix<br>

2500-9999: Embered Phoenix<br>

10000-14999: Charred Phoenix<br>

15000+: Hatchling Phoenix

==Tools of the Trade==

We recommend that our members use the following scripts and tools to enhance their SFC playing experience:

#The [http://www.eljercode.com Eljer scripts], for Chrome and Firefox browsers, offer several enhancements to the basic SFC user interface, report reformatting, etc;

#The [http://forum.playstarfleet.com/index.php?topic=15219.0 AstroSpy] and [http://forum.playstarfleet.com/index.php?topic=16924.0 Open Parser] galaxy page parsers are scripts that run within the Chrome and Firefox browsers.  Each parser collects game information whenever a player who has installed the tool navigates to a different solar system using the SFC Galaxy page.  The parser then sends the information to a server-based database, where it is stored with information that is collected as other game players navigate from one solar system to another. This collective information then can be accessed and queried to better understand opponents' dispositions, Heph locations and historical tracks, and the location of NPCs.  Each tool provides information that is not provided by the other.  Because of this, we recommend that both tools be installed.

The [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/greasemonkey/ Greasemonkey] scripting engine must be installed into Firefox before any of the above tools can be installed into that browser.

'''HOD''' maintains an MS Messenger chat room for use in plotting attacks or simply talking about SFC and other vitally important aspects of life.  Contact '''Sun Killer''' for access to the chat room.

==Sharing Spoils from Multi-Player Engagements==

'''HOD''''s position is that each participant in a multi-player engagement is a valuable contributor and should share equally in the spoils of war, irrespective of the amount of resources they committed to the engagement.  The spoils to be shared are those which remain after each player's expenses (hydro burned as fuel, cost of IPBMs, and cost of destroyed ships) have been covered, to the degree that is feasible, using the acquired resources.  The cost of defenses destroyed during a Group Defend are not to be subtracted from the spoils of the GD prior to calculating player shares.

This position applies to players involved in a Group Attack, Group Defend, or debris field pickup.  It also applies in the case where a player identifies a target, then asks a particular Alliance member to "provide all the muscle" to take out the target.  In this latter case, the identifying player and the active player share equally in the spoils of warThis position does not apply if a player posts an identified target to the Alliance's message board.  Any reader of the board is free to take on such targets and has no expected obligation to share in the fruits of war with the poster.

This is the Alliance's default policy. It isn't mandatory.  Players are free to negotiate alternative arrangements before performing a multi-player engagement or collaborative operation, such as farming of an inactive.  If no such alternative understanding is agreed to before the engagement, it is expected that the involved players will abide by the default policy.

The Way of the Warrior

Klingons who follow the Way of the Warrior, the belief system developed by Kahless the Unforgettable, value honor above all else. Warriors who die an honorable death are said to join Kahless, the first Klingon Emperor, in the Black Fleet in Sto-Vo-Kor, a paradise where battle and feasting can eternally be shared and won. They can even command a Black Fleet Ship in which they endlessly wage glorious combat, against worthy foes who have also entered the ranks of the dead.

About the Alliance

Sto-Vo-Kor [SVK] is an alliance created by former members of the Klingon Black Fleet that were unhappy with the May 2010 scandal involving unapologetic cheating by several members in leadership positions of KBF. In an attempt to play the game fairly and with honor, Sto-Vo-Kor was created as the new home of the Black Fleet.

Highlights

  • Alliance with great camaraderie
  • Council of Officers that vote on key issues, currently lead by Robert E Smith
  • Bi-annual Leadership elections.
  • Members help each other with advice and in-game assistance
  • "Ask the Experts" Q&A Forum that is always answered and never rejected with "go read the wiki!"
  • Not a newbie/training alliance; membership cut-off is rank 30k.

NaP Terms

We value Non-Aggression Pacts and honor them in perpetuity. The terms of our NaPs are as follows:

  1. No member of either alliance shall probe or attack an active member of the other alliance. In-actives are fair game.
    Resources acquired from an inactive player will not be repaid if that player later becomes active.
  2. This Agreement heartily encourages NaP members to help all NaP members whenever and however possible. Any defense offered to other alliance member's is based on the individual's decision. This will only strengthen our allies and therefore strengthen our positions in the galaxy. And uplift Our Honor!
  3. This Agreement prohibits members of either alliance from participating with their allies in a group attack upon members of either alliance.
    Any violation of this clause will constitute a violation of Clause 4.
  4. All members of each alliance in this agreement shall abide by this Non-Aggression Pact.
    An attempt can be made by the Aggressor to make 105% reparations the resources taken in the attack and the cost of ships destroyed (defense's excluded).
    Light Bulb Icon.png Note: The only exception to the 105% reparations of resources is in the event a Moon is formed.
    A Formal apology to the attacked as well as the Leader of both alliances will be "Required" in an attempt to show remorse.
    This addresses the potential for people to be unaware that a NaP existed.
  5. All members of both alliances agree to the rules (written or implied) of Stardrift Empire by Blue Frog Gaming and shall not use loopholes in the rules to excuse dishonorable conduct. Any member of either alliance who becomes aware, or is aware, of any rules violations by any player in the game will immediately inform their alliance leadership and Blue Frog Gaming via a support ticket. The alliance leader or his/her designee will inform the other alliance leadership of the rules violation.
  6. This agreement will continue in force in perpetuity. Both parties agree that no hostile action will be taken by either party upon the other without 24 hours written notice to the leadership of the other alliance of the intent to revoke this agreement. Time starts when the other leader responds to the written notice to end the NaP.

Light Bulb Icon.png Note: There is only one exception to the "No Probe Rule". If you see a Large Debris Cloud at a NaP'd players planet.
If you have good relations with him/her, then send a letter of intention first. Stating you were worried and or something to that effect.

Membership

If requesting membership to the Sto-Vo-Kor [SVK] include the following.

  • Planet Location
  • Who Referred you
  • Any Prior Alliance

Inside Sto-Vo-Kor

Recruitment

The goal for the alliance is to be somewhere between 100 and 150 members. That seems to be the sweet-spot for alliance size any more than that becomes congested.

New recruits:

  • Must be above rank 25k.
  • Must have worked with you before
  • Must be known to you. An existing member effectively vouches for them.
  • Must have a reason for wanting to join.

When they apply, they provide that information. Failure to provide it results in a request to provide answers to those questions. Any one of the Officers handles a recruitment it depends on who is available and online and in the mood..

They're simple questions with simple answers. They don't need to have a profound justification. These conditions are what leads to the camaraderie we've developed in this alliance!

Rules

Some general guidelines. The rules are not intended to be onerous - some of these rules are general guidelines, some are hard & fast rules. It's pretty obvious, and it's pretty obvious that you'll be taken aside and talked to if you're doing something wrong. 99.95% of the players don't ever have that conversation.

  • Peace is acceptable to the Klingon Empire. NAPs WILL be honored and so will ceasefires. Warriors breaking either will be expected to make reparations to restore their honor.
  • Members cannot put unofficial NAPs in place at an alliance level. There is no way of tracking it. Members can however recommend a particular alliance and it will be investigated by the Officers and voted upon if the other side is willing.
  • If attacking a player, don't pound them into the ground. Hit them once and if they contact you asking you to stop, consider honoring the request. Help them back to their feet. You can make a friend this way and friends are better than enemies (trust me).
  • Show respect especially to those within the alliance. If responding with criticism to an idea, be positive & constructive! Not negative and destructive!!
    • If you can't suggest any alternative, then you probably don't have anything to criticize!
  • Respond not with nasty words to an enemy or a member of the alliance. Try rising above it and taking the moral high ground and reasoning with them.
    • If that doesn't work out, ignore them. No need to be a jerk to jerks!
  • Farming inactives is fine!
  • Attacking "active players" that have left their fleets at a planet is fine, since their warships shoot back it is indeed honorable conduct!
  • No Fleetsave = No Fleet. Don't come crying if you forget to FRS.
  • Play how you want. You want to be in d mode? Fine, no questions asked. No criticism given. There are more than enough Warrior Spirits to do the heavy-lifting and from time-to-time we all need to go into d.

Leadership

The Leadership comes up for re-election every 6 months. The ranks in Sto-Vo-Kor are based on game rank, not some popularity contest based on how you kiss the Leader's ass or play politics. Anyone can become the Leader through hard-work and service to the alliance.

Officers

All Officers share the same duties, there are no people in charge of recruiting or diplomacy or this or that. No bureaucracy. The Officer dealing with an issue is in charge of that particular issue and it doesn't matter what it is about. The Officer presents his findings to the Council, the Council votes. A decision is made. Done.

Alliance Ranks

Ranks are not handed out by winning a popularity contest they are attributed by your hard work only and reflected by your Game Rank. End of story!
