Member relations
- Experienced players of TAO are encouraged to share SFC tips, advice and strategies with newer players in the alliance. Post in the forums or contact the players directly. An informed alliance is a strong alliance.
- It is considered good form to advise a fellow member of anything they may not be aware of that you have noticed (e.g. there is significant debris in or near their system that they may be able to harvest). Please message them where appropriate. They may return the favour some day.
- Communications between members of TAO should be conducted in a civil and professional manner. Disputes can be settled by the Leader or an Officer. Abusive or offensive members will likely be ejected from TAO.
Alliance relations
- In line with SFC game rules, communications with other alliances are not to be abusive or offensive. Messages sent should be in the ‘spirit of the game’ and in line with the requirements set out here.
- Communications received from other alliances offering peace, proposing trade or threatening war with TAO should be forwarded to the alliance leadership for review.
- Alliance members should not deliberately provoke war.
- Non-aggression Pacts (NAPs) between TAO and other alliances are generally looked upon favourably as long the requestor provides (i) a reason for the NAP; (ii) a location of the system/s and galaxy co-ordinates where TAO members and theirs co-exist. Members can recommend NAPs to the Leader. Only the Leader can approve or decline NAP requests.
- All members are required to abide by the active NAPs in place. Worlds affected by a NAP with TAO are highlighted.
Recruiting
- All members are encouraged to pro-actively recruit new members into our alliance. A message template is available for use to send for recruiting, or the player can devise a suitable one.
- Threatening other players (e.g. with attack) into joining TAO is not acceptable and against our fair-play principles.
- Poaching members from other alliances is not the TAO way, and we are never to pre-empt a decision or request them to leave. The only exception to this is where:
- Said members of other alliance disclose dissatisfaction with their alliance;
- Alliance has only 1-3 members;
- Alliance has somehow hinted that they wish to join or integrate with TAO.
War
- War can only be declared on enemy alliance/s with the full support of ALL Officers of TAO (including the Leader), and a majority (50%+) of all TAO members. This is a fair and liberal system. Going to war will thus have the strong active support of the alliance as a whole.
- All members of TAO will be called upon to participate in the war if able. During these extreme times, members will be requested to prioritise the war along with their own personal goals of empire-building. Members in diplomacy mode will be strongly urged to terminate it, and engage the enemy – there will likely almost always be at least one enemy in the enemy alliance that can be targeted by any ranked TAO player. Exceptions will of course exist. Members who refuse to participate in the war may be politely asked to leave TAO. Alliances exist for both collaborative protection and action, including war.
- War is a last resort, i.e. if all else fails. It is not expected that this is a likely event at any given time, but it will occur from time to time
Joining The Ancient Ones
To become a member of The Ancient Ones simply fill out an application which can be found on the 'Alliances' page of the Starfleet Commander main game interface.
