Talk:Colony
Q: how do you rename a colony?
A: From the Galaxy screen, click the "(rename)" link. --Rob 16:33, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
Q: I just started my first colony. There is no ship yard, so I can't build ships, can't do missions, etc. How do I set this up? Thanks!
A: You have to build each colony just like you built your homeworld. If you want your colony to be able to build ships, then build a shipyard there. Make sure your colony is the actively selected planet by clicking on it at the top of your screen, where all your worlds are listed. Then go to Buildings. Remember that each planet has to individually meet the requirements for building each building or ship. (Except for Technology, which is shared over your entire empire.) For a quick refresher, refer to the Quick Start Guide for a general order of buildings that could be built to generate a self-sustaining colony. --Rob 13:48, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
Q: What should I do if there are no empty planets left in my solar system that are ready for colonization? There seems to be people in my solar system who aren't playing very much. I've borrowed their undefended resources, but they are taking up useful planets. Can their planets be taken over?
A: Inactive players will eventually be deleted, and their planets emptied for someone else to take. Don't forget, you can go to other systems, and even other galaxies, to find empty planets. --Rob 14:34, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
Q: What does Planet Size have to do with anything? This is the only page that mentions it, and I don't see Planet Size mentioned anywhere in the game itself or any relevant number, so ... what is it?
A: The planet size is synonymous to the number of fields. It sets a limit on the maximum number of buildings and improvements your planet can ever have.
Q: Do the planets closer to the sun actually gain more energy from solar? The solar building page doesn't mention this, and my in game comparison proves otherwise. The planets farther from the sun definitely produce more hydrogen.
A: I think the gain from the solar satellites correlates with the temperature on the planet, which is more loosely correlated with the distance from the sun. __Meco 14:33, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

Colonize
Q: On my galaxy screen the colonize fields are white, and cannot be accessed. How can I colonize a planet?
A: You need a Gaia Class colony ship, and one fleet available to deploy.
