When someone sends you a message in the game, it will appear here. This is true for both personal messages, as well as messages sent to an entire alliance. Once you have read the message, you can delete them, or save them for future reference.
This is also where espionage reports are stored. When you successfully espionage a planet, the report illustrating what was discovered is placed here until you choose to delete it.
