A player can trade resources with any other player, regardless of rank.
A trade can only consist of "selling" one type of resource and receiving in "payment" one type of resource.
To trade, the trade proposer must first locate the planet they wish to trade with in the Galaxy Screen from the planet they wish to trade from, and click the button on the other player's planet row (in the same group as Attack, Espionage, Transport, etc).
The trade proposer will need to select the amount of the resource they want to "sell." They will then notice the number is red. In order to allow the trade to be proposed, they must also select an appropriate number of cargo ships, and also the appropriate amount of a resource they want to receive in the transaction (see Trade Ratios chart at right).
Once a player has confirmed/sent the trade request, a message will be sent to the other player giving them the option to accept or decline the proposed trade.
If the other player accepts the proposed trade, they will then need to select enough cargo ships to send their resources.
A trade proposal is only valid for a set length of time. If it is not accepted or declined after this time period, it is automatically cancelled.
A player proposing a trade will find that the offered amount of resources and required number of ships to transport it will become unavailable for further actions until the trade request has either been confirmed, declined, timed out, or the requesting player has cancelled the request. This ensures that the resources and ships remain available to carry out the trade should it be accepted by the other party.
Once the trade has been accepted and is underway, it is not possible for either party to cancel it.
As with all fleet actions in SFC, the time given will be one way only. For example, if it says the trade will take one hour to complete, your fleet will actually be gone for two hours; one hour to reach the target planet, and one hour to return to the planet of origin.
Considerations: <br\>
a) Trades between moons are fully invisible to Oracle scans. Trades involving one moon are "halfway" protected from scans at the moon end.<br\>
b) While in "Trade Pending" status, ships are still considered "in orbit" and are still subject to attack as they would if they were just sitting there uninvolved in any action. If the waiting trader is attacked, they will be part of any planetary defense action, and the res contained will be able to be plundered if the battle is lost. It has not been verified, but is assumed that, should the attack destroy the needed ships to perform the transport, that the trade will be cancelled, even if the trade fleet and other defending ships successfully defends itself and keeps the res.<br\>
c) In the event of an attack, the attacked trader may cancel the trade request and FRS the ships and res, or, if the accepting trader accepts prior to the attack landing, then the trade fleet will no longer be part of any defensive actions.<br\>
d) Espies of planets/moons with pending trades will show the trade as being present but pending:<br\>
